The WCA high school basketball team took on Brighton Charter in their home opener last week, dropping the physical game, 58-38.

Junior Ben Armstrong led the team with 11 points for the night. Sophomore Doc Massey was also a big presence, with 12 rebounds and nine points. Though they kept the score close through most of the game, Brighton pushed hard in the final quarter to pull ahead.

The junior high teams played a pair of home games this week. In Tuesday night’s games against Black Canyon, both teams came away with a victory; girls 20-8, boys 32-11. Kinsey Nixon led the girls team with 10 points to her credit; Eric Appel was the big scorer for the boys team with 16 points.

Thursday the junior high teams took on Morristown, losing both games. The girls team fell behind in the first quarter, fighting hard but never quite able to catch back up; final score 16-8. The boys lost 28-12, in spite of a short rally in the fourth quarter.
