2 dead in US 93 crash

The driver of this UPS semitrailer was pronounced dead at the scene of a head-on collision on U.S. 93 about 30 miles north of Wickenburg at about 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Arizona Department of Public Safety authorities say two semitrailer drivers were killed early in the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 1 in a collision about 30 miles north of Wickenburg.

DPS Media Relations Specialist Bart Graves told the Sun that preliminary reports point to a semitrailer hauling an ATL trailer was traveling southbound on U.S. 93 at about 5:15 a.m., crossed the center median, and crashed head on with a UPS semitrailer at about milepost 177.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Graves said northbound U.S. 93 was still closed as of 2:08 p.m. Oct. 1, but southbound U.S. 93 was open.

Further information was not made available by DPS.
