Aguila boys win Central Mountain League tourney

The Aguila Eagles Boys Volleyball Team triumphed over the Festival Falcons in an intense three-set match on Friday, Nov. 1 at Wickenburg High School. In a tight match-up, the Eagles fell to Falcons in the first set, 23-25. Through the combined offensive kills by their captains Jenri Delgado, Dallas Martinez, and Franki Pascual the defensive digs and assists by Roberto Lopez, Ace Chavez (seventh graders), Javier Sanchez, and Axel Granados (sixth graders), the Eagles won the second set, 25-22. The final deciding set further proved how well matched the teams were, but the Eagles prevailed with a score 15-13. Coach Chavez said that he was impressed with how his players rallied together and stayed positive the entire game to win the 2019 Central Mountain Tourney Championship.

The Aguila girls also had a great season with an 11-3 overall record and finished second to Festival at the league tournament on Friday. The Lady Eagles played well and showed real team work on the championship, but Festival Falcons were the victors in the first two sets, 22-25, 15-25. After the game, coach Amezola said that Aguila Girls team is strong, they just lost to a better one that day.

The Aguila Library will be closed on Nov. 28-29. The Aguila Transfer station will only be opened on Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  It will be closed on both Thursday and Friday is observance of Thanksgiving.

The Aguila Community Center is now up and functioning again. Aguila residents wish to thank the Bagdad Mine for giving their time to help Marisol Hernandez get the proper paperwork filed, so our Community Center has now deemed a non-profit (501c) organization for community programs.  William Dudley did the needed research, and Hernandez filled out and submitted the required paperwork.
