The Attorney General’s Office will present a “Suicide Prevention Workshop” for parents and community members on Tuesday, Jan. 21,  at 6 p.m. in (Old Main) the GFWC Morristown Library, located between the Morristown Post Office and Morristown Elementary School on Rockaway Hills.

This presentation addresses the teen suicide epidemic at both statewide and national levels. It will discuss what to do when someone talks about ending their life, tools that help alert parents and the community to the warning signs and learn about risk and protective factors for youth suicidality. The presentation will also provide helpful resources for further guidance.

Morristown Elementary School’s PTSA is sponsoring a Raffle Drawing for a “Pig”, completely processed (butchered and packaged). Funds go to support the eighth grade year-end trip in May. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased from any eighth grade student or by texting Mr. Trad at (623) 680-7434 or contacting the school office at (623) 546-5100. Drawing will be held Thursday, March 26.

The Morristown Womens Club (GFWC) meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. at Old Main, located between the Post Office and Morristown Elementary on Rockaway Hills in Morristown. Community members are always welcome to come, learn and participate in all the volunteer work performed  for the community, elementary school and others.

Morristown Elementary will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20 in honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

The next Morristown Elementary basketball games are Thursday, Jan. 16, (at home) against Canon at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22 (away) against Festival at 4 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23 (at home) against Congress at 3:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Jan. 28 (at home) against Festival at 3:30 p.m. The Central League Basketball Tournaments will be held on Friday, Jan. 31 (away), starting at 9:30 a.m. and hosted by Aguila at the Wickenburg High School. Under Arizona law, a state tax credit is available for contributions to support extracurricular activities in public schools. The Morristown School District would like to thank the staff and community who have made donations to the Extra Curricular Tax Credit Program. These funds  are used to provide students access to many extra programs, including sports, field trips and after school programming. Every donation is appreciated. Snack size refreshments of chips, cookies, bottled water and soda pop are always appreciated by the PTSA to be sold at the home games, special projects and concession stand. Donations can be dropped off that the school office and are very much appreciated.
