Morristown Elementary School’s PTSA is sponsoring a raffle drawing for a “pig,” completely processed (butchered and packaged). Funds go to support the eighth-grade year-end trip in May. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased from any eighth-grade student or by texting Michael Trad at (623) 680-7434 or calling the school office at (623) 546-5100. Drawing will be held March 26.

The Morristown Womens Club and PTSA partnered again as Santa’s little elves filling and gifting Christmas treat bags filled with candy and fruit for Morristown Elementary School students and their younger siblings. More than 140 bags were given out this year, and 18  kindergarten and first-grade students received Christmas stockings stuffed with activity books, crayons, favors, goodies, filled Santa Cups, cocoa packs, decorated pretzel rods and candy canes. This is the 42nd year of this tradition.

The next PTSA meeting will be at 5 p.m. Jan. 13 in the Morristown School Library. All are welcome to come and learn how you can be involved in this important group to the school. The PTSA hosts events and fundraisers that help support needed programs and equipment for the school.

The Governing Board will meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 13 in the Morristown School Library. Parents and community are welcome to attend.

The next Morristown Elementary basketball games are at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan 7 (at home) against Wickenburg Christian Academy, and at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9 (away) against Aguila.

Snack size refreshments of chips, cookies, bottled water and soda pop are always appreciated by the PTSA to be sold at the home games, special projects and concession stand. Donations can be dropped off at the school office and are very much appreciated.

Pie Cards to Village Inn can still be obtained from the Morristown GFWC for $15. The cards are good at any Village Inn for any pie of your choice and there is no expiration date. These cards would be great gifts for any occasion. For more information and to purchase a card, contact GFWC President Lucy Thompson at (602) 292-1674 or any GFWC member.

Morristown Elementary has a closet of slightly used coats and jackets intended as a resource for parents who might like to exchange a student’s outgrown coat or jacket in good condition with another that fits. For more information, call the office at (623) 546-5100.
