By now, I am sure most everyone has heard of the death of David Romero in Congress. Word travels fast in small towns. See today’s front page article about the case with a photo of Greg Romero. The photo shows a young man with tattoos on his face. There is no mention of the family he comes from. I want to change that.

David Romero is affectionately known as Doc. I will refer to him by this name. Doc’s wife is Judy. She is the post master of the Congress post office. Everyone knows and loves her. Doc has been volunteering at the Yarnell food bank for years, volunteered as a cook at the Congress senior center and so much more. They are kind and loving people who allowed their son to live with them. In one turn of events Judy’s world was destroyed, and we have lost a wonderful, kind and caring friend and neighbor. Devastating. Judy was about to retire, and she and Doc were to move to be near their other son and his family – a new chapter in a life well lived. How one senseless act can affect so many is a horrible realty.

So, hold your loved ones close and appreciate all you have. Please remember Doc and Judy, as two fine, giving and loving people. Keep Judy and her family in your prayers.
