Donna Oder, of Wickenburg, has started a new preschool in town. Yeshua’s Preschool, 160 W. Wickenburg Way, is open 6:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday to children ages 2-10 years old. Snacks are provided but lunch is brought by the students from home. Children attending Yeshua’s must be potty-trained. The cost is $150 a week with a $45 enrollment fee. (The enrollment fee covers half the cost of a student’s workbook, which will be used throughout the school year.) Yeshua’s offers afterschool care and is DES Certified with scholarships available for families in need of assistance.

“We offer a faith-based curriculum that teaches reading, numbers and science. Yeshua’s Preschool provides a place to have fun and learn. We will be learning about other cultures, as we are part of an international organization,” Oder said. “Our vision is to have parents and teachers collaborate on a level that is best for the child to become all that he or she can be.”

Yeshua’s plans to offer family/teacher workshops once a week in the evenings in an effort to keep consistency of care and redirecting techniques in their child’s life the same at school as it is at home.

“I am happy to announce that we have a new teacher who is coming on board with lots to offer our school. We also will be offering music lessons January through March for our kids ages 6 and up and hope to perform for the community with the Ukuleles we are learning to play,” Oder said. “There are many plans that are waiting to unfold in the future. We want to have a garden, the family/teacher nights, Fridays we are planning to do STEM projects and arts and crafts.”

Yeshua’s Preschool is operating under Yeshua’s International Schools for Education. In August 2019, the first school was birthed in India, where girls are getting an education. Since the school’s opening, Oder has been to India to visit the school and learn its teaching methods.

“Yeshua’s Preschool began with a dream in my heart when my own daughters, who are now grown, were small,” she said. “At that time, I was licensed for in-home daycare, which kept me busy for more than 10 years. But those children are all grown now.”

After raising her own children, Oder went to school for accounting and worked in the field for many years. But even with her successful accounting career, she found she still wasn’t feeling fulfilled.

“In May of 2019, I spoke a small prayer on my sofa to follow a path to spend my future making a real difference. This led to the beginning of Yeshua’s Preschool,” Oder said. “Our mission is to lead children slowly, not walking behind or too far ahead, but along with them, teaching them to love God, to do good to their fellow man and respect themselves.

“Yeshua’s Preschool is excited to see our vision unfold in 2020. Personally, I would like to thank each and every parent who comes into Yeshua’s to be a part of our school. Blessings to all and Happy 2020.”
