The Desert Caballeros Western Museum will be open from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31. The museum will be closed Christmas Day, Dec. 25, and New Year’s Day, Jan. 1. Thanks to dedicated volunteers, the museum will be open regular hours for the rest of the holiday season.
This year, thanks to the support of the museum’s members, donors, community funders and dedicated volunteers, DCWM welcomed nearly 50,000 local, national, and international visitors, introducing them to the rich history of the American West and the role Wickenburg played in that narrative. An investment in the museum today helps ensure the continuation of the museum’s programs and the preservation of its collection of historic art and artifacts for generations to come. A gift of any amount makes a difference. Donations can be made at the museum or online at westernmuseum.org. The museum appreciates the community’s continued support of Arizona’s Most Western Museum.
The museum’s popular Desert Adventure Tour series returns in January with five exciting excursions this season that explore the history and culture of Wickenburg. Each day-long tour is led by DCWM Master Docent and historian Joe Stevens.
The Jan. 23 and Feb. 8 tours will visit nearly 10 of Wickenburg’s current and former guest ranches, ending with lunch at Rancho de Los Caballeros. On Feb. 18, the group will travel Scenic Loop Trail and get hands-on with a Dutch oven cooking workshop at the museum’s Boyd Ranch facility.
The next tour, March 10, will head north of Wickenburg for an exploration of local ghost towns, ending with lunch at Nichol’s West in Congress. Finally, the March 17 tour will travel Constellation Road, with a picnic lunch under the Arizona sky. Lunches are included in the fee for each tour, except for the Ghost Towns tour March 10.
Fees vary by tour; visit westernmuseum.org or call (928)684-2272 for more information.
