Two local winners in district contest

Winners of the Elks Drug Awareness Poster Contest at the district level were decided recently at the Elks West District Drug Awareness Committee meeting held in Sun City.

Representatives of participating lodges brought their first- and second-place drug awareness posters from their respective lodges for judging to determine the West District winner in each of four age groups. Wickenburg Elks Lodge entrants were unanimously judged as the district winners in two age groups.

In the kindergarten to second grade division, the winner was Emma L. Weber, a first grader from Ms. Perry’s class at Morristown School. The district winner in the seventh and eighth grade division was Sabrina Bishop, an eighth grader in Mrs. Rigo’s class at the Wickenburg Christian Academy. Both of these posters competed against entries from the east, north, and south districts at the Elks mid-year convention in Tempe Oct. 23-25 to determine state winners.
