From Wickenburg to Rochester, Minn., more than 13 pounds of aluminum can tabs (that’s a lot of tabs) traveled recently to Ronald McDonald House. O.C. and Joani Mangold have been collecting tabs for their grandchildren to take to the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester.
Maggie Schoepski, Development Director of the Rochester Ronald McDonald House was also in the office to accept the donation from the Mangolds. In recent years, the Mangolds have collected the tabs from friends and business for their grandchildren. While on flights, O.C. has asked flight attendants if he may pull the tabs and on one flight an attendant mentioned she had been saving them to give to O.C. There was a big bag full of the tabs.
Numerous friends in Wickenburg have also been collecting the tabs, and each trip to Minnesota includes the thousands of tabs heading north for Sam and Sonny Marie. They also collect tabs from sources in their community, Zumbro Falls, Minn. The co-sponsor of the tab fundraiser is IBM Corporation headquartered in Rochester.
The Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home and caring support to families with children 18 years and younger, receiving medical care in Rochester. When a child is ill, the emotional and financial impact on their family can be overwhelming. The House offers families comfort, care and hope during very difficult times.
To help collect tabs, the Mangolds have miniature House Charity boxes for the tabs. The collection of tabs costs the donor nothing and can make a great difference in families with children suffering from serious diseases. Call them at 684-1111 and they will be happy to get a collection box to you.
The Mangolds expressed appreciation for the Wickenburg residents that have been collecting aluminum can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.
