28th Home Tour features four plus two

| One of the featured homes on this year’s Tour of Homes |
The 28th Annual Wickenburg Tour of Homes and Holiday Market will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sponsored by Las Senoras de Socorro to benefit the Desert Caballeros Western Museum, this event is always a highlight of the fall season. This year five homes and two bonus locations will be open to visitors.
The free Holiday Market at the Wickenburg Community Center will offer vendors, arts and crafts, a bronze statue raffle, coffee bar and much more. Lunch can be purchased for $8. Tickets to tour the homes are $20 and may be purchased in advance at the Museum, or at the Museum and the Community Center the day of the tour. A ticket includes free admission to the Museum that day.
Guests will enter the first featured home through a beautifully crafted wooden gate and discover a courtyard with walls of decorative murals. The courtyard is bursting with flowers and small seating areas, a well-planned garden, and an outdoor, see-through fireplace that extends inside to the intimate living room.
Bold colors and designs abound in this unique home, from the built-in seating of the banco, to the peeled pillars, to the painted horse on the beehive fireplace. The furniture blends antique and colonial periods. There is a special secret garden in the back of the home with interesting iron sculptures from the children’s story, “Charlotte’s Web.” The kitchen is beautifully appointed, and the counters are distinctive in the use of aguila marble from Aguila, Ariz.
The homeowner is a master gardener and her expertise shows in the beautiful landscaping in the many patios and flower gardens surrounding the home.
As a highlight to the Home Tour, artist Bruce Aiken will appear in person at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum from 10 a.m. to noon to autograph copies of the his new book, “Bruce Aiken’s Grand Canyon: An Intimate Affair,” by Susan Hallsten McGarry. Few people are as intimately familiar with the Grand Canyon as Aiken. This book includes many of his paintings of the Canyon and a look at his life in the Canyon for more than 30 years.
As an additional treat, Home Tour participants may stop by the Museum for a visit with artist George Molnar of Prescott from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Molnar is well known for his portrayals of Native American life. Molnar’s oil on canvas entitled “Best Friends” will be available for viewing in the Fisher Gallery. Molnar will have signed prints and giclees available for sale.
