State Compensation Fund update
The National Council on Compensation Insurance recommended, with Arizona Department of Insurance approval, new workers’ compensation base rates, which become effective Oct. 1. By Arizona statute, all workers’ compensation insurance providers must adhere to this new rate plan.
SCF Arizona policyholders will experience an average rate increase of 7.9 percent, effective upon the policy renewal. Your specific increase may be more or less, based on your company’s industry type and the job classifications.
You also will see a change to the federally mandated “Terrorism and Catastrophe” amounts applied to your workers’ compensation premium. Terrorism and Catastrophe amounts have each been lowered to .01 per $100 of payroll for a total of .02 per $100 of payroll for every policyholder. SCF Arizona wants to help your company control your insurance costs. It is one reason we asked for and, pending Department of Insurance approval, will offer a 10 percent discount from the National Council on Compensation Insurance mandated rates.
In addition, you can help control your costs and premium through prompt reporting of claims, using healthcare providers in SCF Arizona’s Preferred Connection Network for your injured workers, implementing workplace safety and return-to-work programs. To find a list PCN providers in your area visit our website at www.scfaz.com and click on healthcare providers.
For additional information on the 2008 rate increase visit the Web site at www.scfaz.com in the policyholder section or call 602.631.2600.
