Members of the community earlier this week dedicated Boetto Park, the Town of Wickenburg’s newest recreational facility.
Boetto Park, located at 155 South Jefferson, was made possible by the generosity of the Wellik Foundation. This distinct facility has an abundance of desert trees and plants, playground equipment, a winding walking path, a large number of picnic tables and exercise stations.
Boetto Park is located near the Henry Wickenburg Boetto House, named after the town’s founding father. During its dedication, Community Services Director Steve McKay thanked a number of individuals and companies who donated time and materials when there was no longer funding to complete a particular portion of the project.
“I want to thank APS (Arizona Public Service), Rubash and Sons Concrete, Date Creek Plumbing and Electric, Grantham Fence, Wickenburg Landscape, the WLB Group, and Pete Incardona of Sunrise Mine and Marble Gallery,” McKay said.
Boetto Park features a one-of-a-kind Arizona marble sculpture created by Incardona, which is placed atop a Vietnamese marble base originally donated by Sen. and Mrs. John McCain.
There is also an additional sculpture with a Vi Wellik bronze appreciation plaque on display at the park’s entrance.
Others who attended the dedication ceremony include Community Services Assistant Tonya Forbrook and members of the town’s parks and recreation staff, Beth Gallant of the Wellik Foundation and members of the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce.
