Desert Oasis Therapeutic Massage is expanding its services, evolving into what owner and Licensed Massage Therapist Curtis Reznicek describes as “a true wellness center.”
Registered Dietitian Debra J. Johnston (Pathways to Nutrition) and Chiropractor Marianne Ludwig (Ludwig Chiropractic) have recently joined the team at Desert Oasis, and Reznicek is offering additional massage-related services.
Dietitian Johnston graduated with honors from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Nutrition and did her graduate work in Gerontology. Following a yearlong internship with focus on nutrition in Phoenix, she became a registered dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association. For several years Johnston worked in long-term care as a dietitian and nutrition services director. She moved to Wickenburg in 1998.
With a strong background in Clinical Nutrition, Johnston provides nutrition counseling services for a number of health problems including diabetes, heart disease, food allergies, gastrointestinal complaints, Bariatric surgery and weight management. She also enjoys working with children and families to develop sound and healthy food and eating habits. With her food service experience to guide her, Johnston is skilled in menu and recipe development. She can assist with creating healthful and delicious menus that are also quick and simple to prepare.
Johnston is available evenings and weekends by appointment only at Desert Oasis Therapeutic Massage. For more information or to schedule an appointment please call her at 231-1762 or email djjrd@cox.net
Dr. Ludwig earned her Doctorate degree from Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa, in 1993.
She is board certified in the state of Arizona in chiropractic and physiotherapy. She also holds an Associate of Science degree and has experience as a certified nursing assistant and emergency medical technician. She completed three years of nursing school before pursuing a career in chiropractic. Dr. Ludwig associated with another chiropractor for five years in Phoenix before opening her own practice in Surprise in 1999. She moved to Wickenburg five years ago and enjoys being part of the community, so she decided to open a practice here.
Dr. Ludwig practices using a variety of techniques depending on what is best for the individual patient. Some of these techniques include manual adjusting, use of the Activator instrument, drop table, and muscle work. She also can use therapy such as ultrasound and electrical muscle stimulation. She treats patients of all ages from newborns to seniors. Although chiropractic is known for dealing with the nervous and musculoskeletal systems, Dr. Ludwig believes in treating the body as a whole so it functions at 100 percent optimum. Therefore, she instructs her patients on general healthy living including proper nutrition, exercise, stretching and strengthening, proper posture and ergonomics, as well as the importance of a positive mental attitude and stress-free lifestyle. She is committed to providing her patients with the highest quality of care in a friendly and professional atmosphere. She is excited to be working with Reznicek at Desert Oasis Therapeutic Massage and is grateful for the opportunity.
Office hours are by appointment, and Dr. Ludwig is a provider with most major insurance companies. She can be reached at 232-7538 to schedule an appointment or more information.
