Council names new Arts Commission

  

When the Wickenburg Town Council next meets, it will name the members of the town’s newly formed Arts Advisory Commission. The meeting will take place at Town Hall Monday (April 21) and will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Those expected to be named to serve on the commission include: Royce Kardinal of the Desert Caballeros Western Museum with a term expiring December 2010, Penny Petrie of the Wickenburg Cultural Organization with a term expiring December 2011, Carol Arnett of Friends Of Music with a term expiring December 2010, Kathy Weiss of The Del E. Webb Performing Arts Foundation with a term expiring December 2011, Patsy Stephens with a term expiring December 2010, Mickey Brewer with a term expiring December 2011, Heather Lloyd of In-Step School Of Dance with a term expiring December 2010, and Council Liaison Kristi Henson with a term expiring December 2010.

Other items on the agenda include:

  • The consent agenda which includes possible action regarding The Henry Award nominations, approval of specialized signs to inform travelers that Wickenburg is still open for business during bypass construction, and a special event liquor license for the Wickenburg Rotary Club to host a Chamber of Commerce dance and barbecue on May 3.

  • Discussion/presentation and possible action by the Coalition for Solutions through Higher Education to face the challenges of encouraging support of Arizona institutions.

  • Discussion/presentation/update by Cox Communications Manager Michael Stull of government relations regarding the company’s activities and service offerings in/for Wickenburg.

  • Discussion/possible approval to enter into a service agreement with Arizona State University to conduct a survey of four areas to allow for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) eligibility for future town projects not to exceed $27,600.

  • Discussion/possible adoption of a resolution calling for primary election for one mayor seat and three councilmember seats.

  • Discussion/possible approval or determination relating to waiving all fees including deposit, set-up and rental fee permanently for United Blood Services sponsored by the Wickenburg Elks Lodge.

  • Discussion/possible authorization to go out for a Request for Proposals regarding contracting out the janitorial work for the Town Hall complex.
