Quayle in town to golf

Golfers will play for charity this weekend when the Humane Society of Wickenburg’s “Pars for Paws” benefit kicks off at the Wickenburg Country Club.

The event will take place Saturday (April 12) and will begin at 8 a.m. with a meet and greet with former United States Vice President Dan Quayle and his wife Marilyn.

All proceeds will benefit Wickenburg’s Humane Society’s animal shelter building fund.

Spots to play are still open and interested persons can call 684-0642 or 684-2011 to register. A 9 a.m. shotgun start is planned followed by a barbecue lunch with the Quayles.

There will be gifts for all golfers and awards will be given. The event will include bucket raffles for items such as western prints, dinner for four at the Wickenburg Fire Department, gift baskets and certificates, a flying lesson, memberships at Curves and the Wickenburg Hospital Fitness Center and more.

Silent auctions already underway include:

  • A golf membership at the Wickenburg Country Club

  • 18 holes of golf for four at the Wickenburg Country Club, Rancho de los Caballeros, and Quintero

  • Tickets for the FBR golf tournament

  • A Mizumo Tava 9 wood

  • A Sumo 5000 driver

  • A week in an 1880s lakeside log cabin on a Wisconsin island

This “friend-raiser” is taking place to benefit the Society’s building fund. Call 684-0642 or 684-2011 for more information.
