Dispersing BBB monies on agenda

When the Wickenburg Town Council next meets, it will discuss and take possible action on BBB (Bed, Board, and Booze) funding.

The meeting will take place at Town Hall on Tuesday (Feb. 19) and will begin at 5:30 p.m. The meeting was moved from Monday to Tuesday in observance of President’s Day.

Items of discussion include the consent agenda, which contains the approval of $25,000 of BBB funds to the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce for the marketing of the Town of Wickenburg.

It also includes the approval of dispersing BBB funds in the amount of $3,000 to the Wickenburg Cultural Organization, $3,000 to the Wickenburg Friends of Music. $6,000 to the Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts and $8,000 to the Desert Caballeros Western Museum.

The council will also discuss and take action on a presentation by the town’s health insurance broker, who will update the council on the cost of this year’s renewal of health insurance for town employees and their dependants.

Also on the agenda will be a discussion and possible review and determination regarding the insurance requirement for those wishing to rent the Community Center.

Local clubs feel they are no longer able to access the Community Center for their events because of the high cost of the required insurance.

Also up for discussion and possible approval is a change order in the amount of $6,300 for the Downtown Streetscape Phase II Water and Sewer Project.

Other items in the consent agenda include:

  • Acceptance of a Department of Homeland Security firefighters grant award for $136,713 and approval of a match share.

  • The approval of a contract with Corriente Cattle Company relating to the granting of an access easement at the town’s Forepaugh property.

  • Ratification of a change order for $1,806 to Talis Corporation for the Downtown Streetscape Project Phase I to facilitate the widening of the alley behind the Desert Caballeros Western Museum.
