Fundraising fashion show for 3-day walk participants
Outback Steakhouse on Grand Avenue in Surprise is hosting a fashion and jewelry show to help Wickenburg’s “Hassayampa Hoofers” raise funds for the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk. The luncheon event will be Saturday, Oct. 6 from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Susanne and Company and Buckshot Babe’s of Wickenburg will furnish fashions to be modeled by team members Meg Allred, Jacquie Arcand, Nancy Holihan, Sally Maher, Bernadine McCollum and Cindi Smith.
“I support this walk for the cure to honor my great aunt Lillian “Babe” Desmond - the original Buckshot Babe,” said Carrie Ward, co-owner of Buckshot Babes. “In the early 1960s Lillian had a radical mastectomy and became a breast cancer survivor. I support her memory and that of all of the strong women in Wickenburg and around the world who are currently fighting breast cancer.”
“I agree,” said Susanne Walsh, owner of Susanne and Company. “So many women in Wickenburg have been diagnosed with breast cancer. If we all contribute in any way we can, our efforts, donations and prayers can help win the fight and find a cure.”
The Hoofers must each raise $2,200 to participate in November’s 3-day 60 mile walk. Walk proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.
Tickets are $20. For tickets or more information, call Bernadine McCollum, 623-388-9613, Nancy Holihan, 623-341-5487, or Jacquie Arcand, 928-671-1247.
