Webb Center adds musicals to season

The Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts has added two new musicals to the selections for 2007-2008: “Beehive - The 60s Musical” and “Almost Heaven - The Songs of John Denver”. Tickets to these performances, as well as all shows in the Webb Center’s season, will go on sale to Encore Society Members on July 9 and to the general public on August 20.
In “Beehive,” follow the era of rock and roll through its upbeat music and unforgettable hair. With a cast of eight wailing women, one hot band, 43 wigs, 40 costumes, 25 cans of hairspray, the audience relives the greatest hits of the decade. The show features songs made popular by The Chiffons, The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, Connie Francis, Leslie Gore, Petula Clark and more. “Beehive” will perform on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m.
“Almost Heaven” brings the life of folk musician John Denver to stage in an exciting, feel-good production. From his discovery through his army years to his height as a music celebrity, John Denver’s greatest songs will be presented in stirring new vocal arrangements. This show will perform one night only on Friday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m.
“We are pleased to partner with New York-based Off-Broadway Booking to sign these shows to our season,” explained Executive Director of the Webb Center Cathy Weiss. “Their company produces extremely well-built national tours designed specifically for intimate theaters such as our Webb Center. This will round out our season perfectly.”
Tickets to “Beehive - The 60s Musical” and “Almost Heaven - The Songs of John Denver” are $35 for adults and $5 for students; adult ticket pricing for the rest of the 2007-2008 vary depending on the show. All tickets will go on sale to Encore Society members beginning on July 9 from the Webb Center’s Box Office and to the general public on August 20.
