As part of the Desert Caballeros Western Museum's opening weekend celebration of its newest exhibition “Grand! The Art and Wonder of Arizona's Magnificent Canyon,” there will be a special lecture with art authority Alan Petersen on Sunday (Jan. 21) at 1 p.m. in the galleries.
Petersen, who is curator of Fine Arts at the Museum of Northern Arizona and coordinator of Colorado Plateau Studies at Coconino Community College, will present “On the Edge of Wonder: 130 Years of Grand Canyon Art.” His lecture is free to museum members and volunteers and $10 for non-members.
Those who attend the Sunday afternoon lecture will also have a chance to tour the new “Grand!” exhibition and will be among the first to see the Museum's newest acquisition, “Kaibab Reflection” by Merrill Mahaffey, to be unveiled at Friday evening's opening reception. Reservations are suggested.
“Grand! The Art and Wonder of Arizona's Magnificent Canyon” will continue to be on view through March 11 in the museum's Changing Gallery.
