Uldrickson, Alder grab first-place win in Tucson High School Rodeo

Wickenburg Rodeo Team’s Bryson Alder and Jett Uldrickson rebounded after a tough Saturday to take first place during Sunday competition at the Tucson High School Rodeo on Jan. 11-12.

The team knew the steer they were going to rope on Sunday and determined he broke hard and ran straight down the arena.

Alder and Uldrickson took that knowledge and roped their steer in 5.48 seconds for the first-place finish.

The win put the duo in fourth place overall in Arizona High School team roping.

The top four teams earn a spot in the National High School Rodeo Finals July 19-25 in Lincoln, Neb.

Whether they will hold on for a spot at the finals will be determined between now and May.

The Arizona High School Rodeo season continues with competitions left in Safford Feb. 22-23, Wilcox March 28-29, Holbrook April 18-19 and finishing May 8-10 in Sonoita.

The state finals take place on June 5-8 in Prescott.
