Teams are now forming for the 11th Annual Walk to Boot Breast Cancer to be held on Sunday, Oct. 20, 7:30 a.m. in downtown Wickenburg. This year’s theme is “Fight Like a Girl!”

Participants can choose to walk or run one mile, 3.2 miles, or even sleep in.

The entry fee of $20 for breast cancer survivors, $25 for adults and $15 for children 17 and under includes a commemorative t-shirt if registration is received by Oct. 1. Walkers will also receive at the event a complimentary drawing ticket for prizes, including a two-night stay at the historic Wigwam Resort, and coupons for discounts at local shops and restaurants.

Registration forms are available online at wickenburgbootsbreastcancer.org; at My Secretary, 340 W. Wickenburg Way; or by emailing wbcn2018@gmail.com.

Volunteers are needed to help with setup, teardown, check in, and on-course cheerleading. Contact Bernadine McCollum at (623)341-5977 to volunteer or for additional information.

Funds raised from this event, sponsored by Wickenburg Breast Cancer Network (WBCN), are donated to the Pink Ribbon Angels (PRA), a program of the 501(c)3 Wickenburg Community Hospital Foundation. This program provides free mammograms and other diagnostic tests, including biopsies, for the uninsured and underinsured residents of Wickenburg and 10 surrounding communities. Both WBCN and PRA are fully staffed by volunteers.
