Two men and a woman were arrested for drug possession after a traffic stop on Tegner Street at Rose Lane on Jan. 29.
Wickenburg police officers stopped a 2010 Ford truck for speeding at about 11 p.m. and contacted the driver, Randall Jason Benson, 48 of Phoenix, front passenger Matthew Adelbet Byrum, 56 of Wickenburg, and backseat passenger Heidi Dawn Mineer, 38 of Wickenburg. Officers reported receiving conflicting information from the three and asked Benson if they could search his vehicle. Benson refused.
WPD K-9 Hiro was deployed and allegedly alerted on the vehicle signaling the presence of illegal substances. The trio was detained and officers searched the vehicle. Officers purportedly discovered 21 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Benson, Byrum, and Mineer were arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sale and possession of paraphernalia. Mineer was also arrested for possession of narcotics after the substance was found in her possession at the time of her arrest, police assert.
All three were taken to Fourth Avenue Jail in Phoenix, and the truck was impounded as evidence.
