Property owners in Wickenburg will be charged a slightly lower tax rate in the coming fiscal year as a result of Town Council action on Monday.  During a routine agenda item in which the governing body annually sets property tax, Council dropped the Primary Property Tax Rate from .5270 to .500. Councilpersons discussed a lower tax rate in light of a healthy budget reserve account. According to quick calculations during the meeting by Finance Director Stephanie Wojcik, the reduced rate will provide approximately $450,900 in revenue rather than the originally budgeted $475,292 . Even so, the Town will receive more revenue in the coming year than the $418,500 collected last fiscal year, because property values increased.

The measure passed with a 6-1 vote. Council person Royce Kardinal voted against it. Those in favor were David Stander, Sam Crissman, Chris Band, Kelly Blunt, Kristy Bedoian and Mayor Rui Pereira.
